Use a low windshield. You can not look through it even with rain-x or plexus on it.
If you can't see over it, then you can't ride safely in the rain...
Water gets on the backside and there is little wind there to remove it.
I use pledge, and it cleans it just fine. Also makes it clean up faster, because bugs don't stick.
The problem with the rain is you get a fine mist from the other vehicles around your that is oil/water and coats both sides of the screen.
No easy way without a squeegee to see through it after that.
I'm fortunate. With my forward pegs and a little slouch that seems to be natural I end up looking THRU the windshield. In rain all I have to do is just straighten up my back a little and I'm looking over the plexiglas. I've thought of cutting it down a little but the above combination works pretty good and I think I'll leave it alone.
