so far we got 2 stock bikes, one with new pipes and a debate about tank size thats been talked about in a few other threads......
Dealers just got em here in Chicago last week and Ive only had mine a few days now. I'm married and pretty cash poor so unless anyone wants to donate to the "pimp my 48 so I can post mods" foundation she's gonna be stock a while.
I admit I'm rather new to the sporty threads (hang out on the touring)...but getting a kick out of the concerns over the size of the tank etc....LOL Granted if this was my only transportation, I might be worried I couldn't pass up any gas stations on the ride...but I have a 'Glide to do the touring thing...a Softail to mix things up and now 48 to scoot to work (5 miles) and to simply have a blast driving around town.
Its funny, when I brought home the Glide and the Softail for the first time, the neighbor kids hardly noticed...when I drove this home for the first time Friday afternoon, they all gathered around when they heard it rolling into the driveway.
OC HD in Irvine, CA had two 48s in their showroom last week; one in silver and the other in black. Even the sales people were polarized about it. I sat on the bLack on and it was okay, but the slightly hunched over riding position (I am 5'9") with the forward controls reminds me a bit of the V-Rod. Frankly, I thought the Iron they had parked next to the 48s was nicer, as Ray's (the owner's) guys had installed black mini-apes and black forward controls, and didn't change the price sticker, I noticed...

I did a bunch of mods that cost me under $50, before i did any major purchases.HD parts are a rip off and are not that cool. I too am married and dont have a grip of cash. I would begin by pulling a ton of useless crap off that bike. Make it look like the style they are going for with that bike. Get under there and remove that ugly plastic wire/coil harness. relocate the coil. take off all the lame reflectors. belt guard....etc....
Couple hours and some basic tools and that bike could look bad ***!
