Default security module advice

Hi,bought meself a HD security module for my 05 custom.Figured out where it needs to go and where to plug it in,but after talking to a harley owning serviceman (u.s) in a local boozer,he rckons that i need to go to a dealer to get it fitted cos you need to shut down the diagnostics before fitting otherwise it'll interfere with the running of the bike.Any ideas?Appreciate 'em

Easily done on 06 and earlier ... you just need to associate the icm with the tssm. It takes 30 minutes of battery power.

Use this service bulletin and follow Table 3 manual mode programming.
http://hdpdf.site88.net/servicebulle...8_password.pdf

The bike will not start until the ICM recognizes the new TSSM.

It is not that hard. I did one myself a 2 months ago on an '04 custom. Follow the instructions that come with it to install and after that do what Spoilsport listed. Be sure to pull the fuse for lights so you don't run the battery down.

thanx for the help, sorry for the delay in replying-shift work's a bitch. Just a couple of things tho, the instuctions with the kit make it look like its just plug'n'play and in Spoilsports reply all the tables say that for carbed models password learn is not required and to go to table 3.3 TSM/TSSM vehicle delivery, which isn't on the link kindly provided.Any further help appreciated, should be able to reply quicker this time-off work for a few days now

Table 3 of the posted link go to manual mode on page 4.

Sportsters and other carb models were not added at the time this chart was made, they were later found to sufer the same problem. It works if you follow the procedure.

Good Luck

Just make sure you have the correct TSSM, the FOB will have a rubber button in the center which is used for programming. The 2007 and later system has no button and must be associated by a tech with the correct equipment.

You are just basically turning the ignition key and waiting out time. The service bulletin makes it look more complicated than it really is. The most time consuming are steps 5-11, but it is actually only one step repeated three times in a row. The key icon remains lit for approximately ten minutes and will go off when it is ready for the next ten minute session. I timed it manually once and the light did stay on for ten minutes.

Do not turn the ignition key until the key light icon goes off. If you interrupt the programming for any reason you must start from scratch.

You should not have a problem, just PM me if you become confused.
