Default FActory security system question

Ok all, Kinda confused reading my owners manual when it come to the factory security system on my 06 superglide. If I pull the battery out of the bike for the winter, when i re-install it in the spring am I going to have a problem getting the bike to start due to the alarm system? I dont arm it and to be honest I was thinking of just removing the system from the bike alltogether. Has anybody gone this route before? Any advice would be great.

When you disconnect the battery, the only effect will be that you will lose whatever password code you entered into it, if any. When you reconnect the battery, it will default to the original password code that is indicated in your user manual and it will not be armed. It will not cause a problem with starting the bike.

Just a warning -- don't simply pull the TSSM out of your bike. The ECM knows it's there and won't start if the module has been removed or replaced. That information is stored in flash memory and removing the battery won't change it. Your Harley dealer has a program that will tell the ECM it's gone if you decide to get rid of it. Have them de-program the ECM before you pull the module.

Good advice. I have a battery tender on my Corvette and the battery has held up well. originally I took it out and that battery had the shortest life of any I've had.

I put one on my 1200C and it also was fine.

Make sure you use a "battery tender" brand or one of the others with a float charge system, not one that hust trickle charges.
