Using a torch and a grinder is fun and straight-forward simple.
However... when a dead battery had me doubting my electrical expertise, scratching my head, making phone-calls, and posting on here thinking i'd crossed the wrong wires i could be heard mumbling more than a few "WTF's" to myself.

I did the same thing, switched the two wires in the connector. If you use a paper clip, you can remove the terminals from the connector and reinstall them without cutting wires. The service manual will show you how to remove the terminals.
I first made a bracket out of 1/8" aluminium, it lasted 2 months before it broke from vibration. Then I made one out of 1/8" steel been fine ever since.
