I was bored yesterday during the pouring rain, so i decided to move my coil.
No problem there, made a little bracket, cut off some un-needed stuff.
Decided to keep the ignition in the same place.
Didn't do a tank lift or harness tuck.
Subtle change, but looks good.
HERE IS THE PROBLEM...
I mounted my coil in such a way that my plug wires need to be criss-crossed to fire properly.
[see pics below]
Has anyone else mounted there coil this way...?
If so, did you switch wires in the harness somewhere..??
That's the best idea i could come up with to get the coil to fire correctly without criss-crossing the plug wires, but I'm not sure which wire is which out of the (4) wires in the coil pigtail. Anyone have a schematic of the wires for the coil???
Thanks in advance for any info or advice,
mike

So I guess you guys are running single fire ignitions. Just reverse the trigger wires going to the coil that way you don't need to cross the sparkplug leads.

That's what i'm just about to go do.
Cut, swap, and solder the Blue/Brown tracer wire and the Yellow/Blue tracer.
Seems like the two Yellow w/green tracer wires are the grounds.

Close, it came with an old CD player, part of the mounting hardware. It's basically the same stuff.
Used what i had laying around last night @ 10pm while stuck in the garage due to rain.
I'll see how this bracket holds up, i'll make it out of 3/4"x1/8" flat bar if this bracket doesn't hold up.
Well I cut, swapped, and soldered the Blue/Brown tracer wire and the Yellow/Blue tracer...
...now i'm getting a loud, ugly, clicking noise from the starter when i try to start the bike and the engine doesn't turn over...
...any idea what i could have done wrong..??
I didn't mess with any other wiring besides the Coil harness.
[charging the battery now, only had 11.5vDC]

Could be you swapped the wrong wire's and switched the hot wire to the coil instead. Hooked it back up like oem then turn on the ignition and find out which wire is hot "12volts" and just swap the other two trigger wire wires.
