Default coil relocation

I am thinking of relocating my coil from under the tank for a tank lift. Can anyone give some ideas on locations for it that are reasonably easy to accomplish? Pictures would be great, any help appreciated.

I think one of the most common spots from what I have seen is between the cylinders on the left side.

Default Hi

As posted on this site are various methods of relocating the coil to the left side, pretty simple and you just get another short plug lead and it looks pretty good.
I have mine in a temp mount under the frame(just cable tided, done about 8000ks with it there), once you remove the plastic wire cover I've cable tied it to the frame.I'm was going to move it the position the hooter is but I'm battling to get a long plug lead.so I;m waiting on a housing I'm having cut so I can mount it on the side of the cylinders.H

I stuck mine between the cylinders using a piece of flat stock then I swapped the wires so the coils wires wold be in the correct location total cost was about $3, If I could get pics to post i would show you exactly how they are mounted

Most of the pics I've seen are for later model sportys. Any other ideas for the boxier coil on the 03? I tried putting it between the left side cylinders and it seemed to stick out to far no matter how I turned it.

Default Hi

You seem to have quite a large space beteen the rear cylinder and frame area above the starter motor. If mounted it on the doentube with the plug leads running up and across to the plugs.you could have a stainless box fabricated to doll it up a little, just some thoughts..hope you figure somthing out.

Make sure that you have the plug wires connected to the correct port on the coil. The wiring harness to the coil is keyed so you shouldn't be able to plug it in backwards. As long as the correct port from the coil is going to the correct plug there should be no issues.

Where in Texas are you?
