The dealer gave me this to use in my primary is it the right fluid - FORMULA+ Transmission and Primary Chaincase Lubricant
2001 xl883 custom? The manual is a little in clear on at what level the primary fluid should be at when you check it I put in the amount recommended and its not leaking so im not worried about checking it right but when i want to in the future it be nice to know what they are talking about when they say the clutch diphramge spring ? the picture just shows the whole primary case with no arrows. any help would be apreciated.
P.S tip to anyone new never open the primary case unless the bike is level... you will lose fluid learnt that the hard way, was forced into a primary fluid change when all i wanted to do was check it
I have not noticed any leaks so I didnt check the tranny oil level. I change my oil and filter every 2000 miles with mobile 1 15w50 and my transmission oil every 5000 with mobile 1 75w90. Seems to be running fine.
I know on my 07 it takes one qt. Do this-if your not going to adjust the clutch, the drain the primary fluid and then fill it through the chain inspection cover-that's what I do and it works fine.
