Default Please everyone read this..i need help!

I have a 2004 XL1200c with 6,340 miles with a screamin eagle hi flow air cleaner. The screw backed out of the air cleaner assembly and was sucked into my carburetor, leading to a total engine failure. it ruined my front cylinder head, cylinder, desinigrated the piston, bent a valve and twisted a connecting rod. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS ISSUE OR KNOW OF ANYONE THAT HAS HAD THIS ISSUE? HD wants nothing to do with me now. After I had the dealer install their performance parts, had all the service work done at a dealer, they dont want to offer any assistance to help me! PLEASE, IF ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM OR KNOW OF ANYONE PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!

It is not that uncommon of an issue. If the dealer did the install on the A/C intake they should fix it. Be persistent. Talk to the manager. I am guessing they did not apply loctite to the screw.

If the damage was directly caused by a mistake in their work, then it most certainly is covered.

Their mistake, their repair bill, don't let them off the hook.

+1 - It happened because the dealer failed to use Loctite on the screws, as the installation instructions call for.

+2 I'd search the entire forum. You'll find plenty about it.

Last one in it is the one who focked it up.

The "dealer" that did the install should be responsible for the damage, but NOT the MOCO. Don't let this dealer off the hook!!

Plus the bolts should have been checked at the last service, if they installed the air cleaner, and did the service.. Double Fail.
