Well the time has come to order an exhaust for my 48. I was originally planning on getting bassani sweepers but i decided to stay with the more "old school" vibe of the bike. I was thinking the Vance and Hines slip ons http://www.jpcycles.com/product/451-...18&results=100#
I was also going to remove the stock chrome heat shields and do either a black or white exhaust wrap. Will these slip on's require the ECM to be re-mapped? and would i need an upgraded air-cleaner? iIf so i will either go with the SE stage one kit or find another kit with a round filter and no filter cover. I would really like to keep with the vintage looks of this bike and hoping in on the right track. Let me know what you all think

I like where your going with the exhaust. Don't have any actual experience with the newer bikes and FI but don't believe the slip ons will require a remap if that is all your doing. I'll be watching to see how this comes out.
I went with the Bassani Sweepers and had to get a new air cleaner as the stock one touches the pipes and would melt. I don't think you'll need a remap with the slip ons. With the sweepers, since they are straight pipes, I got the power commander v and that worked great for them.
If you do decide on the sweepers, beware of the passenger pegs (if you have them on) They will not fit with the stock bracket, you need an extension. Let me know if you do, I made a video on you-tube showing what you'll need. Good luck, ride safe.

Yeah i just watched your video over on another thread. I dont think i will be going with them though, they look too "new" and dont really fit the style of this bike.
Haha its all good man im sure he's just excited about his new pipes, i know i sure would be!
one last decision and im ordering pipes today, black or tan exhaust wrap?
Eventually there will be a brown leather springer seat on her as well so im leaning towards tan, but i want your opinion. This is my first bike and im very new to motorcycle modding so i could use a little help.

Somewhere in here there is a thread about pipe wrap discoloration over time......That will probably help you with your decision.
