Default Motorcycle jack

I have an 05 1200 C. The suspension is pure stock. I'm wanting a jack that I can use to raise the bike for detailing and I want to be able to slide the jack under the bike without taking the bike off it's side stand.

I've tried all three (used to be two) Sears jacks and none of them will work. If they do go under, there is a cross brace too close to the front that it won't clear the kick stand.

Any words of wisdom will be appreciated.

Yeah... I have the Sears Aluminum jack...

I do use if for detailing and other maintenance... I position it probably about the same way you do, but I stand the bike up with one hand and jack with the other.

It comes up fine clears the kick-stand and is stable. I will admit that I wish I didn't have to worry about the stand, but life ain't perfect either... lol

I too have the jack from sears. At first your a little nervous about the bike tipping on you. But after you do it a couple of times the fear is over. If you need to have a buddy help you the first couplle of times. Just make sure you strap the bike to the jack. I always say You got what you got and thats all you got.
Hope this helps

You can also roll the front wheel of the bike up on a short 2x6 and put a 2x6 under the side stand. That should give you enough clearance to get the jack under the bike while it is on the sidestand.

I also have the Sears jack. Since I have an 883L I did have some initial problems with clearance. I took a 1" x 4" cut it into 4 pieces 2 pieces about 12" long and 2 7" long. I glued the shorter one on top of the longer one in each case. That way I only had to bump up one level at a time. Get both wheels up on the second lever, place a 2 x 4 under the kick stand, and my jack slides under easily.
