I don't know of many people who are going to sit out a 2 year warranty before modding their bike.
The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act pretty much covers the situation.
While you might have to fight with the dealer if a situation arises, the dealer has to prove that your modifications were the cause of a failure in order to deny warranty coverage. On the other hand, if you have electrical problems, you can bet the dealer will try to blame it on your wiring harness work.
If you can do the work yourself, just put it back to stock configuration and take it back to the dealer if you have a major problem. I can't see how any of that would void a warranty. Isn't the dealer paid by HD for warranty work anyways?
