I mean if you have a screen there you might be able to get some sort of air filter and cut it to fit tight in there, but I was thinking the same thing as Joe-the suction at the TB is strong and will pull anything loose right in if there is nothing to stop it. Like I said I love the looks of your set up.

yeap fellas... but a screen will let dust grains in... if you are unlucky enough to ride past a dusty/windy area, or some truck leaving a trail of sand.. or something like it... we don't want you kicking yourself in the head when you engine ages prematurely and you have to spend mucho dolares fixing it...

your Velocity stack looks mean and badass BTW.. but I think mine with the air filter looks pretty nice too... perhaps much nicer if you look at it in person..

Looks like you got the same one that I have. Doesn't the end of the air filter have a screen on it as well? I would love to get ride of the screen on the end and have it be some type of paper filter. Is that the same filter that came with your setup or did you get a different one?

I don't want to be a PITA, but if it's not too much trouble a # would be sweet. If it's not handy, no biggy. I've got a Pep Boys right here in town and could probably manage to find 'em.
Thanks-a-milllion

Forgive me if I am wrong, but any filter inside the stack will kill performance totally.
Filters need to be big (lots of surface area) to pass air without restriction.
Any little filter would restrict air flow a lot.

The best air filter is a big paper filter, loads of surface area, plus it also traps very fine dirt.

Thanks for the input everyone!

After looking around for an air filter to cut and fit into the stack im just going to buy the filtered stack from ebay and do it right.

Joe - Did you get yours from an ebay store called "End Of The Line Chop Shop"? They have the filtered stack and breather kit for $199. Im getting this kit but sticking with the breathers i got from pepboys

Scuba - Sorry man i threw away the package but got a picture of it

They're in the isle where they keep their "performance parts" down by the intakes and filters. . .

The new stack will be here tomorrow and the bike is going in for her first service/1K check/stg1 downld thursday. I'll post some better pictures when it is all done.

i wouldnt get a paper filter. i would agree with you about the other points tho. i would go with a reusable filter that you can clean and re-charge. ie. k&n
