hey moustache... yeah.... the HD stores usually carries plenty of metal stuff in the garment area.... what I did since I removed the original timing belt cover and replaced it, I took the stock timing cover and cut off the outer metal layer, I just left the inner round logo... crazy glued it, it made a perfect seal... people ask where I bought that "HD" Velocity Stack.... hahaaaa
Hahaha that sounds awesome, got any pics of the cover on your filter? I looked through your album the other day but i dont remember seeing it.
They had a really cool vintage looking metal circle (not sure what it was for) but it had a red star in the center and Harley Davidson written around the outer edge. Black of course and almost looked like a perfect fit. Too bad someone grabbed it off the shelf right as i spotted it
Just picked up the bike from Service on my lunch break and there most definitely IS a power gain. I have only done slip ons, velocity stack, and stage1 download and the bike feels much more responsive I really couldn't be happier.
I thought power would be down, because that filter looks really small, plus its not going to be a ram air type setup, air flowing past the stack will actually create a vacuum...
Put a small tube at right angles to an airflow, and it creates a vacuum, exactly how paint spray guns work....
Velocity stacks work, but only if there is nothing inside them, and not at right angles to high air flow....
Brett - That makes perfect sense. BUT i do feel an increase in power even though the stack is at a right angle to the airflow. That may be because of the stage 1 but im new to MC's so i do not know. This stack is much larger in person than it looks in the pictures, almost 4 1/2" out and almost 2 1/2" in diameter, and the filter is not much smaller. If you are local to MD and want to meet and see in person let me know. My neighbor thinks it looks odd but cool because of how big the stack is.
Cool options Moustache... I would go with the Fuel Cap... I like it the best, here is mine with the trimmed timing cover, pic is not too good, cell phone pic, it looks really cool in person:
Great set up mustache. When I put my stack on I had taken it to the dealer to get it retuned and the mechanic said since I already had the stage 1 and hd heavy breather that I did not need a tune. He even test rode it and says it actually runs a lot better than the other 883s he's tested. I'm supposed to get a real dyno done to see all the specs. Btw Joe was a big help in getting mine set up so any info or advice he gives is worth listening.
Quick question fellas, i love this look on the bikes i wanna put it on mine, can you guys send me a link for where you bought them? i saw them on ebay but i'm not sure if it'll fit on my ride. I guess the other question is, my bike is carb'd both of yours are EFI do you think it'll bolt up?
