Default Adding Brake Oil

I have a 06 XLC - I noticed I've been having to really step/press further down on my rear brake pedal as of late.

I thought, I may have worn pads, but the pads are still 50% good. I then checked my brake oil, and it's right @ the low point.

My question is - is it okay just to add brake oil (dot 5), without flushing? will i see an improvement?

thanks.

Yeah you can add but your bigger worry is why is it low? You must have a leak. Not good.

Brake fluid goes down as the pads wear, when you fit new pads, it goes back up.
I would check things and make sure the caliper is not binding.
The brakes should act the same way even if the pads were down to 10%.

I had an issue where I pretty much lost all of my rear braking power. Checked the fluid and noticed it was empty. Turns out I had a cut line.

If I were you, I'd check for leaks. If you're losing braking power, something is wrong.

Yes, you can add brake fluid, BUT the fluid level being low is not going to affect your brake pedal operation UNLESS the level got low enough to allow air to enter the system. If you got air in the lines, adding fluid isn't going to fix the problem. You're going to have to bleed the system.

Whoa Buddy!! Do Not use DOT 5. It will Not Mix with DOT 4 which should be in your bike now. If you want to use DOT 5, you have to THOROUGLY flush out the old stuff, and it takes quite a bit of fluid to do it right...$$$.
I agree with the others that you have other issues with the system that need attention.

Not trying to be an azz or anything but if you are adding "Brake OIL" Maybe you should let someone else take a look at it.

you may have a bad rear m/cyl. my wifes 04, the pedal wouldnt come back up after applying the rear brakes. i bought a rebuild kit for it...fixed the problem. of course, check the obvious...leaking brake fluid from the brake line...but my bet woud be if you have no leaks and decent brake pads...proly need a new rear m/cyl
