Considering a windshield
But that low compact size HD compact works for me. I ride with it all the time now
. Do any of the small shields or 1/4 fairings work. I've seen the flyscreen and HD fairings. I think fairings look like crap on Sportsters. Again i'm not after blocking the wind completely just some relief at 60+ mph on windy days is all. The wind on my helmet has never bothered me. My leather riding jacket on the other hand is like a drag chute lol
.. Suggestions/Experiences?the HD quarter fairing on my 08 1200R,,black of course.
The curved angle of attack takes all the wind above 60 off your chest.
And SMOOTHLY arks It up and around you without all that
dramatic turbulence the flat windshields make you deal with.
At 70 plus my arms and upper shoulders are still in the breeze but NO
heavy hurricane force wind load.
You won't have to "hang" on the bars and because of
this light hold the bike will handle much much better.
No, None, Nada, Zip wind buffeting on me or the KBC flip face I wear,
again the flat windshields under certain condidtions will bat your head around.
BTW,,you want better handling ? It's not in these pictures but
I added the Superbrace,,BIG BIG tracking Improvement.
Also added 3/4" fork preload spacers,,3/4" scedule 40 pvc, a perfect fit,,
and went to Screamin Eagle performance "Heavy" fork oil,,It's 20 wt,,
If you ride in the cold 15 wt would be fine.
the 3/4" preload leveled the chassis for me as I ride and am still happy
well,,,sort of happy,,with the stock shocks on the most preload.
The 20 wt with the preload greatly reduced front end dive which was robbing me
of cornering lean angle.
Stock R model's are 32 degrees lean angle both sides,,I bet I got 33,,an I use it
so says my chicken strips.

A windshield is supposed to be looked over, not through. The top edge should be around 2" below your eye level.
