Speedometer backlight won't turn off?

Speedometer backlight won't turn off?
I have an 07 Sportster 1200 Custom with a 1yr old battery that is hooked up to a tender. I started it up Friday morning just fine, and after work it was completely dead. I had to jump it to get it home and after parking it in the garage I noticed the speedometer backlight won't turn off. I called the dealership and they said it would be three weeks before I can get it in and in the mean time I should take out the main fuse when its not in use. My first question is does anyone know what could be causing this? My other question is which one is the main fuse? Thanks for any help.

Does it have a position on the ignition where you can pull the key out and keep the speedo light on? I know my '09 does. Gotta just make sure you turn the key all the way before you pull it out, maybe.
And the main fuse should be in a big clip case inside your battery cover. Probably a big green fuse.
