My 01 leans only 6 degrees off of 90 and with a wire tie as a test on the dip stick to mark the level it still reads the same at 90 degrees or on the kickstand.

Or better yet trust but verify.

Maybe we should be responsible enough to take responsibility for our own actions??? I won't blame anybody else for my actions.

This was the post in question.

For my 06 1200R both the service and owners manual state to check it on the stand. I am thankful that HD decided to do this as it makes checking it easier.

To the OP WHY DON'T YOU be sure to POST THE CORRECT INFORMATION.

You point fingers saying it was wrong bla bla bla. Yet YOU ARE the one that's wrong. Yes for your bike maybe you are correct. However for the post in question YOU ARE WRONG. The correct information about checking it on the jiffy stand was correct. So before you go and point fingers, you might want to double check yourself and get off your high horse.

Yes there are alot of people that know their stuff, as others have said. They are some of the most helpful and knowledgeable people around. However they still aren't a replacement for a manual.

I echo the sentiments of those that can't understand why people are too cheap to buy a manual, yet come here for information. Then they get all pissy when you tell them to check the manual or ask what theirs said.

You spend thousands and thousands of dollars on a bike, plan on doing some work yourself, spend thousands on accessories, yet are too cheap to buy a manual? Those types of people need to sell their bike and find another hobby.

The first and most important accessory that I bought for my bike was the owners and service manuals.

Isn't asking a question on a forum just like asking a question person to person??? I'm sure we've all talked to "mechanics" before that tried selling us a few BS lines here and there. Take the info given here for what its worth. Like Gpsjr10 said, if wrong or dangerous info is given then usually it is countered with the correct and safe info. It is what it is I guess

Yea, maybe the original poster here needs to get his **** straight before coming on and trying to "correct" others. It kinda makes you look like a fool when you start a seperate thread to tell everyone that someone else posted bad information, when in fact it is YOU posting the bad info.
So, don't be suprised if you ask a question later on, and nobody replies. We'd all just feel terrible if we didn't have the absolutley correct answers for you.

I agree about the service manual. I have both the service manual and the electrical diagnostic manual for both of my bikes. You can get them on ebay all day long for about $20 each.

I notice the OP was quick to slam and point fingers at everyone saying they are wrong etc. Yet when it was shown HE was wrong he wasn't man enough to say oops sorry etc. No he slammed people yet when his ignorance was pointed out he quietly like a snake came in and cleared his original post.

Shows how much class you really have dude.
