I went for a good ride today but had one problem coming back. I had to go up one steep hill and I got on the throttle to keep up with traffic. When I got to the top and level ground I let off the throttle and I think the engine quit. I say that because things got real quiet like. If I rolled on the throttle nothing happened until I got mid way or so then it took off really fast, nearly bucking me. Everytime I let off the throttle it repeated the same thing. It acted like it had stalled then got a rush of fuel and speeded up to maintain the rpm's.
The only other time this ever happened was when I stalled out at a light and quickly restarted not giving the fuel pump time to cycle.
I had to pull off the side of the road and let things cool down for 15 minutes and it ran just fine going home. I checked the oil level and it was just a little lower than the full mark. Steam was coming off the oil in the tank though. I thought bikes were meant to be run?
any ideas or should I take it back to the dealer under warranty?
I ran across a problem like this on a customers bike ,while checking it out after he bought it it did the same thing. I took the gas cap off and the problem went away.Replaced it with a vented cap and problem solved! Also make sure you are running the proper weight oil Too!
The cap is the stock custom cap. I did open the tank to make sure I wasn't running low on fuel, maybe that helped and I didn't know it. Oil is standard dino oil dealer put in at first service.
