Any good auto parts store should be able to tell you the size or a harley tech.

all i did was match the threads on the O2 sensor with the tap. I dont remember the size tap i used. i started the tap with a half turn in, then a half turn out. i slowly worked the tap in and out of the hole using the half turns until i was sure the tap made a good pass though the hole. took less the 5 minutes to do it

This may also be a stupid question but first thing that comes to mind is how do you know it will be the right thread pitch?
I also am very curious as to the size bit ( if that is what it's called) to match the correct size if the O2 sensor.

I love learning things
knowledge is power
A good set will have a set of gauges that you can match up with the threads you want to cut, measure twice, cut once! Some auto parts stores may have an O2 sensor re-threading tool for a few bucks. For having something around the house, an Snap-on set cost's too much. See if you can bring your O2 sensor to an auto parts store, see if they have an O2 tap and see if the threads match up.

I recommend getting a spark plug thred repairt kit as the tap is the same as the o2 sensors thread grab a can of some cutting oil. Go slow turning the tap in and back out this will give you the best cut and will and will work out the metal shavings.

You might want to check here. Usually the tap is a oversize one for the screw in insert which is the 18MM x 1.5. I have see one with the smaller tap in front of the larger one to start it and I assume this is what you are refering to.

I want to thank everyone for your help!!
I went to the Harley Stealership today and they said to go get a Spark Plug Thread Chaser, so i did and it worked great!
I was concerned because i flattened out the third thread on the O2 sensor trying to get it in the first time.
All worked out fine and I got the pipes on, in fact the rear pipe went on considerably easier than the first.
I replaced the exhaust gaskets while I had the pipes off to be sure i wouldnt be re-doing the job anytime soon.
Man those things fit in crazy tight.
I used a tiny amount of PB Blaster on the outter edge of the gasket and it went into the cylinder head easy.

I fired up the bike and WOW what a difference!
The reason I wanted louder pipes is to keep people out of my lane, or at least give me a little bit better audibility.

I took the bike on a small jaunt and as figured the pipes are backfiring a little on decel....I kind of thought they might.
So even though it probably wont hurt to drive it this way for a few days till my fuel pack comes in, i will probably just wait a couple days to cruise untill I get the TV3 installed on the bike.
I am sure i will be back with question on the install of the fuel pack.
But I am hoping it will be easy, at any rate I will post up a review of the TV3 when i get it on an drive it a bit.
Then I will be replacing the Air Cleaner to a stage 2 K&N type from a company that does custom work in Virginia.
Thanks again for the help, I really appreciate it

glad it worked out. The fuel pak was easy to install. On my iron i had to take the seat off and the battery out to route the fuel pak. it was alot easier then putting the pipes on.
