Default Need some input..

Last year I decided to sell my beloved 08 Nightster because I thought it was the right thing to do.. (long story) A year later, a new job, and I have the fever something wicked for another bike. I have the opportunity to purchase a 03' Anniversay 1200 Sportster, silver and black and "LOADED" with chrome, 20,000 miles, new tires, and it runs great. My wife is dead set against it, but, I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on it anyway. My buddy said that he would sell it to me for 5100.. Is that a good price, and is there anything distinctly different between the 03 and the 08 Nightster that should turn me away?

I have a couple 03's exactly like what you're explaining, and a couple 04 & up (rubber mount) and I'm just a couple minutes from you. There are quite a few very small and several significant differences between the rigid mount bikes & the rubber mount bikes.

All in all, you'll miss your Nightster if you get that 03 but if you want to see for yourself the differences then swing by.

And if that 03 currently belongs to a fireman I would stay away from it...lol, just sayin.

Just another way of thinking about it, but if it were MY wife, and she was "dead set against it"....FREE wouldn't be a good enough price.

I know for sure the grief I'd get would be so intense that I'd have it up for sale in no time, I'd be pissed about it, she'd be pissed at me, I'd be in the dog house for a month........

Life is too short as it is...why volunteer for misery? My Grandpa used to say, there's three types of fools; plain fools, damned fools and volunteers...
YMMV

well I have learned this over the years of being married and that is 'it is easier to ask for forgivness than it is to ask for permission'

I don't think thats a bad price. Depending on the the accessories and how well it has been maintained, it's prolly a fair price.

As was stated earlier, the '03 models lack the rubber mount engine and fuel injection that the Nighster has. I personally would prefer a carb on my bike but the rubber mount does do a nice job of reducing vibration.

Learned this through a divorce-you never quit having to ask forgiveness. Just sayin'.
