No it's a stupid fad that will be gone in a year or two, hopefully and besides it looks retarded.
My "48" came from the dealer with the mirrors flipped. I have no problem using them in that position & can see everything.
There are 2 pages of opinions, both pro & con on the subject, and I've said this before "Opinions are like Buttholes, everybody has one, all different, & they all stink"
Flipping mirrors ghetto? I'm sorry but some of the things I've seen people done to this bike, I'd put flipping mirrors at the bottom of the list of whats ghetto.
I flipped em on my Iron, helped out a **** ton. Factory position sucked as no matter how I adjusted the mirrors, I just got a nice view of my arms. Flipped and now I can see everything, plus the line of sight to them is much better, a quick glance down and I can see whats on the side of me. I still will look over my shoulder before making a lane change tho.
It seems like quite a few people have issues with flipping mirrors on drag bars. +1 on the bar end mirrors maybe working out for you better. Can't you bring the stems forward a little to clear the tank?
I prefer the look of flipped over stock but, that's just me. I especially like it better for apes or taller z's. I used flipped on my nightster for a while. I'm 6'1 and 230. I never had any trouble seeing. I actually liked it better. I agree with some above posts that I do still always look over my shoulder. It's a habit. I have a bar end mirror now and it has by far improved my field of vision greater than stock or flipped, I guess just because it is at the very end of the bar. If anyone is looking to see a bar end on drags just look on my profile pics. I got mine from licks.
Alright just an update peoples, after re-adjusting my handle bar (rotating it a bit) the mirrors work ten times better now, I guess the way I had it set up, the mirrors were aiming down.
I love that people are using the word "ghetto" when describing flipped mirrors...or Harleys in general. I've never seen a thug gangster from the ghetto cruising a Harley.
The reason my mirror is flipped is because it looks sloppy with 2 big *** mirrors towering over my bars....not because my homies in da hood think it looks dope...word playa...I'm just keeping it real.
