I just made a speedometer relocation bracket.

I cut it just above the indicator section, and filed it so it was completely smooth/round. Put the leftover indicator section back on the upper clamp. Used the Autometer clamp you've seen, removed the rubber section, and clamped my original (now perfectly round) speedo pod inside the clamp. Picked up a 6" bolt from the hardware store, used a 1" long "sleeve" I had laying around as a standoff to push the mount out from the tank, enlarged a hole in the autometer mount bracket, and put a nut on it. I did have to extend my speedometer wiring roughly 8 inches as well, but has been working just fine the past few weeks.
