That's why I'm so perplexed - the Stator, Regulator, battery were all replaced 5 months ago - 1200 miles ago. So when it wouldn't start, I figured it must be the starter clutch, so i replace the whole starter.
I hooked up my battery charger/maintainer overnight - this morning when i went to fire her up - Bamo! Fired right up (i finally got to hear the ***** Starter in action - nice!). What i don't know is, how many starts is it going to give me. So does this make it more likely a battery (that's almost 6months old); and why did it not start when Pepboys charged it for me?
Perform the test I posted above and then post the result.
tighten your voltage regulator screws ,loose screws on the regulator cause a ground problem= no crank.
also clean and re tighten your ground strap on both ends especially at the ground screw terminal on the engine case. a good trick is to movr it to the primary ground screw .itt's more easillly reached and you can check it easyer at that location.
my money is in a loose ground .
then pull your relays off and clean the terminals.washing the bike can corrode theese and cause starting problems.
