Hey everybody,
I have a 2007 XL 1200L and I tried installing the engine guard yesterday. The problem is there is some heat sink device that the bottom part of the engine guard goes into the bottom part of the fins on the heat sink. Anyone experience this problem?
Are you talking about the voltage regulator between the front down tubes? Not to be insulting, but are you sure the engine guard is for a rubber mount frame? If you don't have them, here are the instructions. They show the lower mounting point below the voltage reg. http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US...ts/-J02822.pdf
I bought the bike used and I don't believe it has had the recall done to it yet now that I know about that. The voltage regulator on mine is much larger and sits much lower than the one in the install manual. I'm going to bring the bike by the harley shop today and see about getting the recall done.
