Default EFI question

I just put a new exhaust system on my 2007 Nightster. I bought the O2 plugs for the pipes in anticipation of buying a power commander. My question is that I'm really not worried about making my bike faster or changing my rev limit or anything like that. All I want to to do is ensure I'm not hurting my bike and that it's running fine. I know I need to change the fuel ratio but what is the cheapest way to do it? A power commander is pretty expensive and if that is what I absolutely need then so be it but I was just wondering if there is a cheaper way to get what I'm after. And thanks for the advice ahead of time.

I have a Fuelpack and it works great for me. At $230 from Dennis Kirk it's a deal. If you have O2 plugs in than you have either commited to the PC or you wasted money.

Hendo... what do you mean with "bought O2 plugs" ?? I wanted to let you know that the Power Commander V uses the Auto Tune modules that comes with their own O2 sensors.. and these sensors are different ... with the Power Commander V you have two options.. the base module that comes with O2 sensor eliminators .. or the base module + the Auto Tune modules that come with O2 sensors ( I believe those are called WideBand O2 sensors if I am correct) so you replace the stock ones with these new ones... I hope this helps..

I think the next best setup would be to reinstall your O2s along with a pair of Nightrider XIEDs. They actually worked very well with just changing exhaust. They didn't quite cut it once I added a good flowing A/C. They plug in between the O2s and the ECM cable. Easy Pleasy! This is what I had before I upgraded to PCV. I still have them if you're interested.

I have the PC III on my XL50 with the o2 elims and it works fine with a dyno tune. I still have my stock o2's in the pipes, but they are not plugged in, the elims are pluged into the connectors and the PC III is set up to run the elims. If you just have the o2's disconnected right now and no elims or PC then your bike is going to run like crap. You would be better off runing the stock o2's in the pipes right now then none at all. Sorry there is no real cheap way out here and you need to do it right to have the bike run right even if you don't care about extra power.
