Ive been riding with 10" eye to eye rigid struts for about 300miles now, I can take the pounding fine, but I dunno if the bike can! My tach is already starting to have 'needle bounce' over bumps, and I belive I saw my speedo do the same.
Haven't had an issue with mine and it's been about a year and a half. However, google "epididymal cyst". I'm paying, not the bike. Seriously considering going back to full shocks
Hardtail w/o a spring seat is NO joke. My ***** are ok....for now. If I can find a cool SHORT set of performance shocks I will eventually go that route

I rode a '73 Sportster "bobber" the other day that was a hardtail and just had the metal seat pan with no padding or covering. I rode around the block a few times and couldn't believe how rough the ride was!!!
Holy hell... My ***** hurt after just that short ride. I wanted to buy the bike for the cool factor (it looked badass), but man, I wouldn't be able to take that all the time.
Thought the ride on my 48 with the spring seat was rough but took a ride on a hardtail with a solo and coil springs. YIKES - I don't know, maybe I'm just too old for such a ride. Sgtthump is right, a really badass look but my body was protesting big time.

riding with 9.5" sturts...no seat springs and the pad on my seat (homemade) is only kneeling pads from the home depot gardening section...put over 3500 miles on it this summer all up and down the east coast. I say *** the speedo or tack...i ditched mine a while ago...it helps with my serenity...if i don't know how slow the guy in front of me is going i tend not to get pissed off or ride their ***...i just sit back and enjoy my cruze...a true hardtail is much more forgiving than struts...a rigid frame has some sway...much more hard core to ride a struted sporty...can't wait to hard tail mine for reals...
