I got it in my head that I didnt like the reflectors on my lower forks and stripped them off. You can see an outline of where they used to be. Would emory cloth be a good idea to polish the aluminum forks to a good shine?
Emory cloth is a little coarse I would think,If it's... the glue residue.. thinners should do or even (Mr. min furniture polish)it's a spray on all purpose house hold spray polish it works great on stickers and double sided tapes,i'm sure you guys have a similiar product.. If its a discolouration ,try a little rubbing compound and buff it.
I'll tell you, my son has a 2006 Dyna that we bought used. They guy never really cared for it. The front forks looked like crap. I took off the wheel, fender, and reflectors and then proceeded to polish them up. I started with 150 grit, went to 200, then 300, then 800, then 1500 dry... then wet. Finished up with polishing compound. I'm telling you, those things shine as much as chrome lowers. It took me about 2 hours total time... including removing and replacing all the hardware. They still look great after 6 months... just hit them with a little chrome polish once in a while now. Thinking about doing the same on my 2004 Ultra... just more crap to take off first.
