Need some opinions. I am looking at C&C seats for my bike. What is the general opinion of leather vs. vinyl? Is one better than the other as far as looks and holding up? Leather is not a whole lot more expensive but I was wondering if it's really worth it. I can get a vinyl one with a flame design for the price of a plain leather one.
Most high quality seats are leather on top in the sitting area and vinyl on the sides. The leather breathes and is cooler in the summer than vinyl. It will also break in a bit to form to your butt and be more comfortable. But you need to treat it with a leather conditioner to keep it supple. Also, if you have a stitching design in the seat, leather or vinyl, you need to seal the needle holes with something like Sno-Seal so the inner foam doesn't get water logged.
I have two C&C seats for my Sportster, solo and 2-up, and they are great quality and very comfortable.
Thanks for the help. Everybody I talk to with C&C seats likes them. I am looking at the 2 up touring seat. $295 in vinyl with a flame design that will match my paint.
have had 3 seats on my bike and the wife has one on hers... all leather.
i like the way that leather conforms to my rear- and its not really hard to care for. wash the bike, wash the seat and then use some good leather preservative on it. i wonder whether the vinyl seats look as good... dont really know about vinyl, but have always enjoyed the seats that i have ridden.
