Default Need answer quick guys!!!
Will an 2009 OEM 3.3 gallon tank fit a 2008 1200custom without modification?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Yep it will fit. Tanks from 04-06 will only fit on those years since these are carb'd bikes. In 07 HD switched from carbs to fuel injection on the Sportsters. Any tank from an 07 and up will fit on your bike. Just make sure you either get the fuel pump from the tank being swapped on your bike or swap your existing fuel pump to your new tank.

On a side note, it seems Pingel makes a conversion kit and a petcock to replace the fuel pump plate on the fuel injection tanks so that tank can be used on an 04-06 carb'd Sportster. Search for the link here or it may be xlforum.net

FYI -The 3.3 gal. tank is shorter than the 4.5 gal. so you will have a gap between the seat & tank.

The 2 posts above mine are both incorrect. The 3.3 gal is taller - it will NOT clear your speedometer!
