Question 883 efi heads porting??

Ok looking at a zipper or NRHS kit for my 07 nightster(EFI). One of them states that I need some stock 883 heads, I am assuming they must be EFI, to send in to be ported. Where can I get a set of stock 883 EFI heads without buying them new( f. dat!), and why cant they use my stock 1200 heads to port? Any recommendations on which one to use? And Dan's not in, and NRHS won't answer e-mails....so I am looking at zippers, but I will take opinions. Everyone seems to have one....

Anyone got any ideas? Do they have to be EFI? I would assume yes on that, and about $175-200 for a set is all I am paying......

Looks like a 3 g upgrade after install and dyno .....probably 8 months out from that.

Plenty on ebay.

Easier to remove metal in 883 heads than add metal in 1200 heads.

That might be doable, but it would be probably 6 months atleast. Got granite and carpeting in the basement to finish up the bar(BLS tap)so I will keep you in mind. If you dont find what you need hit me back then. Even if I get a set of heads, I will still trade you.

So then I get ported heads and a cam.....then I can save up for my kit.....then I might be a bit less agitated that I didnt get a Dyna!

I still didnt get an answer(I don't friggin know anyway)do these heads have to be EFI?

Call Pete at Zippers and ask him. He will give you a straight answer and spend as much time with you as needed. He will answer ANY question you have.

PS You will be VERY happy you didn't get a Dyna if you do all those upgrades.

NRHS has always been good with me about emails !

As far as the EFI heads i am not sure but the EFI manifold may not fit the Carbed heads all though the carb manifold will fit the EFI heads

The 883 heads dont port as well as the 1200 heads so i dont know why Zippers would insist on using them.

I can see the possibility of benefiting from additional material on an 883 making a CNC mapping more efficient. But are you meaning that you want to send them a core to CNC but dont want to go without your bike until they get back? That would obviously require the same head in exchange.

Food for thought, 2004XL and up heads are by far the most efficient heads to port out there. Even more than XB or Thunderstorm. You wouldnt want to go backwards in quality. Older carbed 883 heads are simply not as efficient, and less valuable to them as a core.

Dan at NRHS has always answered the phone for me. Id be a bit concerned that there hasnt been a response. Unless they are at the track or something.
