I am looking to put apes on my 2000 1200 custom. Does anyone have any advise on putting apes on stock 4 inch riser or should I remove? Want best look. Interested in raod6customs,Roland sands and burly. Any input or suggestions on bars would be appreciated. Pics would be helpful.

Reason: Left out info.
12" apes on 6" risors, I'm thinking about changing to 4" risors though, some people don't like the "apes on risors look", I do, good luck, and send pics...

Sharp bike! Very good proportions and lines. Almost looks factory, if the factory would have the guts to build something like this.
Can't stand the look of that Custom speedo/ riser crap.

I personally think that apes on the stock curved risers is butt ugly! It just screws up the lines on the front end. To me, I always compare it to an arm with a dislocated elbow.
Pics are of 10.5" miniapes on the stock 1200C riser. They are OEM Wideglide bars from models 2005 and older, part no 56073-93T, 1" chrome. Picked mine up for a steal at $49. They were dealer take-offs. Added the tach above the speedo which gives the bend in the riser context.
If you don't run 12-16" apes and you don't do that thing where you push your bars way forward to vertical or beyond, you can make the stock riser work well.
But if you do want to run giant apes or push them way forward, you probably should consider a different riser....or perhaps a different bike entirely. It's hard to run bars over 12" with 4" risers and have it look balanced on a Sporty. After a point it just starts to look like you are trying too hard.

i ditched the custom riser and speedo to put frisco bars on. didn`t have to change any cables. also made a 3" tank lift and attached speedo to it.
these are the mockup pics, i since painted speedo clamp and tank lift brackets black. the bars only have a 7" rise and i have a 2" riser.
