Post Big Guys withe a passenger

Hey all.

Wanted to know if anyone has this situation.

I'm 6.1 200 lbs and ride constantly. When my wife rides along (she's 5' 6" 175 lbs) the rear exhaust mount breaks (mount over the belt drive). Heavy vibration.

This has happened a few times and re-welding the part is not an option now.

My question is how to fix the problem so next time I ride with my better half the bike don't break!!!

All thoughts welcome, (no diet jokes!)

David

Put a set of Road King shocks on it.

I had the chance to purchase a 2000 sportster for a great price and jumped on it. Problem was I am a BIG dude, so even without a passenger a little bump turned into a kidney crusher, with passenger, bone jarring. Wanted to do some touring so I purchased a pair of Progressive 412's for the rear and springs for the front, which I haven't even installed yet. But the 412's alone have been a tremendous improvement in riding comfort. July last year I rode to NC to ride the Dragon Tail and back from Mississippi coast and had an awesome trip with bike loaded down had very smooth ride, can't wait till I can install the front springs. Don't know if this will take care of the vibration problem you mentioned, but the shocks are adjustable and may take some of the strain off. I didn't catch what type of bike you rode.

I'm 6'1", 225 and when I rode with my ex (she was 120) we'd bottom out on my '99 Sportster's stock shocks over everything. I got a set of Road King air shocks off eBay for $50 plus shipping. She, at first, bitched about me spending money on the bike...again...until she rode on it for the first time.

Then she told me it was the best money I ever spent on it even if I had spent three times the amount!!! You can see them in the picture in my signature.

They're great for heavier riders and while I don't know if it will fix the problem with the mount breaking (not sure why it's breaking...) it will definately make it for a more enjoyable ride.
