Default Anyone have this on their bike?

So just for ***** and giggles I am thinking about taking the front fender off my 2007 Nightster. I want to get this to put in its place:
http://www.lickscycles.com/catalog/p...576a5d92da3676

I found that someone else did this on another forum:
http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/s...hreadid=727163

But as you can see from the pictures the clearance for the front stock tire is next to none. Would that be a bad idea to ride it like that?

I was wondering if anyone else had any experience with this?

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks!

Looks like the pics from the second link are larger than stock size. I had a 110-90-19 on the front of my 02 and the clearance was about the same on the sides. You should be ok with the stock 100-90-19 tire.

i was actually looking at one of these too. they look really cool! instead of buying it, i took my stock fender and took the "fender" part of it off. underneath is a pretty sweet fork brace. got it painted black and it looks like a dream on the bike. i found a raw steel front fender on ebay for $40.00. i am buying that just for inspection.

From Lick's site...

Important Tech Note:!!

Please be advised that if you are trying to run the fork brace with a 19" front rim/tire combo, it is recommended that you swap stock tire out for the thinnest 19 available (like our 19 x 3.25 ribbed SpeedMaster). Swapping the tire will help give you the clearance needed in this particular application. We always recommend you do a visual check to make sure all clearance issues are addressed prior to riding.

this seriously looks like the easiest thing to make. for 60$ i think i'd try to make my own first and if that failed (which it very well might with me at the controls) then i'd buck up. buck up after you fvck up!!

idk why you'd even need it. i've had my bike (14" gimps and all) around 100mph and that front rim never felt loose. they do look cool tho.

i agree, just make your own. i went to tractor supply a few weeks ago. they have metal strips about as wide as the licks brace. i bent the metal and it looks just like that without the holes. i ended up going with the brace under the stock fender though. just go for it man! nothin better that making your own stuff.

Haha yea that was me. I guess I could get the best of both worlds and make my own(save some money, be original and make it fit), never really thought about that.

Well I think I am going to go to the local tractor supply when I am home and pick up some supplies. Spring break is two weeks away, just trying to figure out everything I want to do to my bike on my week off. First remove front fender and fab up something to go between. Second spray paint the gas tank and rear fender. Should be an interesting break. Thanks for the tips! Pics to come in a few weeks

That looks awesome, and only $5 I can't argue with that!
