My wife and I took our 1st long trip on the sporty this past weekend, we went from Dutchess county NY to Vermont. I was a little cold on the ride up on Saturday nd there was frost on Sunday morning. Between the saddle bags and the sissybar bag we had plenty of room for stuff. and the little 883 did all right on the hills in Vermont. The picture is off of RTE 9 between Benninton and Wilmington. The only mishap was I stopped so my wife could get some maple syrup and when we left she left her sunglasses in her jacket pocket while she was putting her helmet on and they fell out of her pocket a mile down the road. turned around to look but they were run over by a car, and of course they were 140$ transition sunglasses she bought at the stealer.
"...and the little 883 did all right on the hills in Vermont". There ain't nothin' "little" about the 883, so never apologize for that! Great pic and beautiful country. Touring on a bike makes the whole trip an adventure and from the sounds of it, you had a great time. Sorry about the glasses, though. Keep up the trips, they tend to grow on you!
Here are another couple of pictures of Vermont and a better picture of the Mustang seat from a couple of months ago. I wish my wife would ride so I could get the springer classic I want, but sometimes she has trouble staying out of trouble with a car I would'nt want her to get hurt on a bike. The sabble bags are willie & max compact slants off Ebay. The sissy bar bag was given to me by a friend who bought it and never usedit and sold his bike, its a great bag hold alot even has another section that you can use if you don't have a passenger. In the pictures it was sagging a little and sitting on the licence plate I forgot to tighten the 2 straps that go across the bar, I did it after I took the pictures. Next fall I will have a windshield for this trip, and a full face helmet for my wife.
Is that the standard (12.5") or wide (15") studded Vintage Mustang seat you have there? I LOVE that seat but keep thinking the wide version is maybe a little overkill for comfort and looks. Whichever it is, do you find it comfortable for extended periods? Was there a break-in period for the seat?
