Installation Of Rear Axle Bolt Covers...Question...
Hi Fella Sportz...
Question,
Has anyone attempted to install these covers on the axle bolts.... For my bike.... "07" XL50, it says i have to completely
remove the bolt out from the lower half of the shock....
Will this thing spring out hard if pull out the bolt... and is it easy to get back in....??
Dont ask my dealer here locally because they will just get nasty.... i guess they dont like it when someone is mechanically inclined....they just want you money to do it at 85 an hours.......friggn service stealers....lol
RE: Installation Of Rear Axle Bolt Covers...Question...
put my axle covers on the lower shock bolts gotta come off but if u have a tater jack or regular cycle jack just raise the bike off the ground it springs a little but not much wouldnt try it with bike on kickstand had to file the edge of the axle cover where the shock bolts on thoughyoull see what i mean when u try to put it back together not a big prob but mine is lowered in the back so u my not have to file it
RE: Installation Of Rear Axle Bolt Covers...Question...
It's a piece of cake...
I didn't have to file out the hole on the cover, though it was a tight fit and don't know if I'd recommend it as you have raw metal for rust to start... just my $.02
As HD Rider explained it would be a whole lot easier if you have some sort of lift just high enough for the rear wheel to drop some in that way you don't have to try and compress the shock to get it back on...
