Default Finally!!!

Well like most rebellious kids the one thing I've always wanted was a Harley. It's been over well 20 years since I first set my sights on that goal, but today I finally got to bring home my first! No more rice burners in the garage from here on out.

Here she is, might only be a sportster, but the deal I got on it was INSANE, and I just couldn't be happier with it.

Yeah it wasn't a knock on the sportsters, but I'm sure you all know the friendly ribbing you get when your buddies ride the big boys, and you buy an 883.

But like I said I couldn't be happier with it. I could have bought a bigger bike, but the deal on this one was SICK.

It's an 87 with 13,000 original miles. Converted over to belt drive by harley, re-jetted, after market seat, forward controls, pipes, bars, chrome, plus a whole folder worth of other upgrades. It came with reciepts for everything, and every single stock part that was changed out during the various upgrades. I have 3 boxes of stock parts that are still in excellent condition with tags stating date, and mileage they were swapped out at.

All that for 2600.00 So like I said I couldn't be any happier.

Yeah, I understand. Their big ol' bikes with windshields, hand shields, hand warmers, seat warmers, radios, giant padded seats, floorboards, trunks, bags, boxes, etc. But I'm the one with a girls bike.

Congrats on yer new ride. My first Harley was only a Sportster too. A 1978 XL 1000. Made her into a hard tail, sprung solo seat, 4" risers with drag bars, changed to larger tank, changed fenders, rebuilt the top end, bla bla bla, you get the drill. Anyway that was around 25 years ago. Have had BMW, Triumph, Honda Wing, Moto Guzzi and a slew of other rides since. Now last year, I got my second Harley, an 06 Street Glide and loving it. Strange thing, no mater how much I like the SG, I always missed that old sporty. So lo and behold, I just picked up a 1999 883. And couldn't be happier.
So while for some a sporty is a beginner's ride, a stepping stone to move up to a bigger bike, for the rest of us, a Sportster is one class act.
Knees in da breeze bro!
