My mechanic ( a Harley tech) has a private shop and does a full service for around $200. He will tell you the BS about Harley services. Some of them from one to another may be just 2 spark plugs different from the previous one and cost a hundred and fifty more. Its a racket.
I have a full service every 5k with my independent mechanic and that includes all the oils. Cheap insurance for around $200
Yeah, I just got my 1k service but it was included in the purchase of the bike. I reviewed the work order and was surprised at how much they did not do. Basically, they changed the fluids, adjusted the clutch cable and 'inspected' the bike...all for $300. They also gave me a maintenance sheet that instructs me to have the oil changed at 2500 miles. So, they are expecting me to change the synthetic oil every 1500 miles....uhhh....no.
Besides saving $ by doing your own service...best to know it was done right.
I do not believe I have ever had a bike worked on at a dealership where they did not mess something up/forget to tighten something, etc.
The few Horror stories I have herd,,,,one was bad,,
I swore an oath to my bike,,To never let It see an HD service bay.
BUT when the day comes that I need Tires I will take It to a local
Indi,,that says I can sit right with the bike and watch XD
