Im in the process of buying a 96 sportster 883 and everyone i know is giving me grief that it's a girls bike. To my knowledge bikes are unisex or are they. Im not trying to open a can of worms but anyone know why everyone keeps saying it ?
Please not another one.... Just look at the member's profiles that post in the sportster section, there are about 10% girls and 90% guys. See how cool the bikes are. If your friends give you grief tell them so shove it. (That is, unless the bike is pink)
The only people I have ever heard say that were weekend warriors and people that don't ride at all. Just look at the sportsters these guys own; they are one of the most customizable bikes out there. Basically, you ride what you can afford and what you like. It's your bike, so nobody else's opinion should matter. Just enjoy that thing bro.

This!! I am damn proud to be moving to a XL1200N from riding metric for the last couple of years. I have had a few people talk **** about the bike, but just put them in their place and they won't do it again man.

If you like it, get it. No one else is riding it, so who gives a rat's *** what they think? I took some of that too while buying mine. Now that I'm actually riding it around, I don't hear it so much. Anytime I do, I tell the person saying it how nice the car/truck they're driving is. I like it, it makes me happy, the hell with anyone else's opinion on the matter.

What he said ^^
If its what you want and you can afford it, get it. Don't get something because your friends pressured you into it. You'll be happier in the long run if you get what you want
