Did 110 miles today. Let me tell ya, I need to make some changes! I feel like I was beat with a tire iron for 3 hours! I was riding with a friend who rides a BMW and noticed he would just cruise along one handed while I was getting the **** beat out of me! I did notice him stand up on his pegs every so often to relax his **** so it wasnt a complete bed of roses for him either....
Seriously need to re-do suspension and seat. Have a windsheild on order. Maybe just a whole new bike!

Are ya gettin old? just kidding.. I know I am. On Sat. me and the boy took the bikes out me on my bagger the boy on his sporty with no shocks. It has struts, and a very thin hard a$s spring seat. Anyhow we rode around 275 miles just running around going nowhere. 110 miles without stopping. My point is the boy was loving it, wanted more he's 17. I'm 43 and would never want to do that on his bike. Getting old sucks.
I felt you pain. After putting new shocks, springs, Mustand Wide Vintage seat, glass and a pair of ME880's on my bike, I can comfortably ride 350 miles. There would have been no way without the above parts; of course, I am fifty-seven.

+1 on what bike do you ride?
The first long ride of the season is always the hardest on the body. That said, if you are a new rider, your body will definitely have some adjustments to make. You will eventually get used to using the muscles you don't normally use. 110 miles should be no problem on a sporty of any model!

Comfort on a bike is hugely dependent on the individual. 40 years ago bikes like the Sportster were the standard big bike only outdone by a FL Harley. I've never owner a Sportster but in my much younger days I rode a lot of miles on standard bikes without fairings or windscreens. I wouldn't trade those so called adventures for anything. Having said that at 50+ years old I really have no desire to relive that experience a second time. I'm not saying you should sell your Sporty and get a touring bike. All I'm saying is you can make changes to your Sportster for better comfort as long as you realize it'll never approach the overall comfort of a BMW or Touring Harley. Apples and oranges deal. I will say since I switched over to Baggers 10 years ago my annual riding miles have more than doubled. Pretty simple, the more comfortable you are the more you'll ride. Not only miles but you'll ride to places farther and farther away. Getting away from your local area and seeing places you've never seen before on a bike is the proverbial brass ring in motorcycling. Ride to the top of Independance Pass in Colorado @ 12,000' on a bike, it's something you won't soon forget. Just my 2 cents worth.
I have a 2011 1200C with the fatty fron tire. I am just turned 41 last week. This was the longest I have ridden the bike to date and have a total of 500mi on her now. I rode a V65 Magna about 20 somthing years ago once and that was the only bike I have ever ridden, so this is my first bike experience!
As much as I felt beat up I loved it and just got back in the house from another 20 miles around town!
