I have smartpartz hard quiet baffle on order. Would you suggest leaving the standard baffles in the short shots? would adding V&H quiet baffles plus the Smartpartz baffles make it even quieter?

has anyone done SS standard baffles, V&H quiet baffles, and Smartpartz?
I don't believe you can put both sets of V&H baffles in, but I have seen where people have put the Smartpartz baffles in with the V&H quiets. Toned it down some and increase low-mid range performance a bit from what I read.

i have the straight shots slip on systems for my 48. and im lovin the look of dem straight pipes (no flare). But with the standard baffles, i feel the torque is crap at low end, and the sound is too quiet. I hear mostly engine noise while scootin TBH. my girl says it loud, but i think thats because she's used to it being like a library.

i took out the baffles, and it was kinda Scary loud, especially when i fire it up in the morning in the underground garage, the neighbor car, gives me a few alarm warning honks. But w/ no baffles it runs even more crap.

hopfully BCT will be right in between, and restore all my low end back.

I put lollipops in mine and it helped bring the low end back and was considerably cheaper than buying new baffles, and they're somewhat adjustable.

thanks for the response erbie07. the reason why i chose BCT, over homemade lolli and the DK tunder torque. Is because the BCT short beercan style tapers the diamater of the pipe smaller a little, which i read is good for velocity of gases, and also improves tone a little bit. Of course i havent installed them, so i could end up hatin em.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to get the BCT or a set of the V&H Quiets, but with a 3 y/o and a 5 month old, the lollipop made the most sense money wise for now. The V&H quiets don't really quiet it down much, but they deepend the tone and bring back some low end.

I had SS on my bike when I got it. I changed to the quiet baffles and I have to say it was still to loud. I ended up going to a pair of Python slips and I couldn't be happier.

Slip ons don't really do much as far as performance if you keep the stock headpipe. Sound is affected for sure but I would bet that there isn't more than a couple extra hp.

I have ss too and I wouldn't want them quiet unless I lived in a place that had a decible level requirement. Wait there is one here too but loud pipes save lives. There are probly a better pipe that has a look you want that you wouldn't have to spend the extra dough on a silent baffel. Good luck and lets see your pipes.

I got the BCT original baffles in my Straight Shots and, while power was better, sound was crappier. I then put the original V&H baffles and the bike sounded better, but didn't perform well.

Then I changed for drag pipes and I love them. Sounds awfully mean and I don't care for the loss of torque.

Hey Voony, you can keep that mean sound AND improve your low & mid range torque for about $20 with the Thunder Torques.

btw, they were specifically designed to increase exhaust gas velocity and reduce engine pumping loss. Check out post #74 at this link

For your drags the Q or W in the 118's would be best.
