Default Wicked Awesome

So for the first time today, out on the highway, got up to 120 km/h. Now, most of you guys out there think what's the big deal, but being a lady, and this time last year, not even remotely thinking of riding a bike, I'm pretty darn proud of myself. Not looking for a pat on the back or anything (ok, maybe slightly..lol), but I am TOTALLY hooked now. Now it's me asking hubby to go out for a ride, not the other way around!

Anyways, just thought I'd share my awesome experience with everyone.

Actually, quite honestly, I think it did! Being a new rider, and having laid down the bike already, having the guard on there, alleviates my panic that I'm gonna wreck it...LOL.

It's getting more comfortable being on the bike every time I get out there....just have to work on my slow speed stuff.....having a bit of trouble there.

jalo,,,you know how to stay in and use the clutch "friction zone" for slow rolls
Right ?
Slow rolling Is harder cause you don't have the stability of spinning
wheels producing a gyroscopic effect wich stabilizes a two wheel
vehicle.

Tip for ya,,,,
Get yer RPM's up a bit higher during U-turns or slow walk speed.

The fly wheel Is a 13 Lb gyroscope,,the faster It spins the more stability you will have :=)

Head and eyes UP,,back straight as possible, hand AWAY from the front brake and Keep a little bit of back brake on...
A small amount of back brake drag can limit drive train pulse..

If yer turning real tight and the bike starts to fall,,adding power takes time you don't have,,,
BUT If yer RPM's are already up,,all ya gotta do Is let the clutch out a tiny bit..the bike will want to stand up,,,
It's physics...
Look where you want the bike to go,,AND pull yer inside shoulder back..as In turning left pull the left shoulder back
when ya turn yer head.

Here Endeth The Lesson XD

Thanks Osco.....I did alot of practicing with just that today and really focused on using the back brake and the clutch with the RPM's up and I felt way more stable. I know, I know.....it takes practice and today was a really good day :-)

the fact that you climbed back on after an accident is awesome in and of itself so congrats. back brake though? i rarely touch my rear brake at all so don't know why you'd need to "drag" it in a turn unless you went into that turn a bit too hot. be careful out there.

Odd, that's what we were taught in our course. Especially at low speeds, to use the combination of back brake, clutch and keeping the rpm's up.
