I'm looking to finally put a spring seat on my bike. I moved the ECM so that's no longer an issue...but which mount can I buy? I lack any skill to create one, so buying one is my only option.
that kit should bolt on no problem if you really don't want to make something. i would just send the seller a pm and make sure before committing. personally i can care less about the pan on the bottom to cover up the hole/wires under the seat cause you can barely see it. 200$ is steep for that though and you could piece build the h/w for much cheaper and cut your own little pan out of some flat stock from the h/w store. if you can trace a pencil on some paper and then trace that on some flat stock you can make your own pan. that simple. lick's also has a spring seat kit but theirs is way over priced too imo. let us know what you decide and post some pics. good luck.
I still don't have access to the tools I'd like to have, so unfortunately making my own pan is not an option right now.
The base I'm posted to has an auto club and I'm sure they'll have some saws I can use to cut metal. I'm going to look into a membership soon. It'll give me somewhere to work on the bike too.
you're on a base and don't have access to tools? dude, join whatever club you have to! if you'll have access to tools to be able to work on the bike that seems like a no brainer. thanks for your service however, i love my country and i have mad respect for you servicemen. i have a 19yr old nephew, just graduated infantry in the army from ft. hood. cheers brother!
Invest a little time in finding a welding shop. I bet if you found some parts at the store or whatnot, a fabricator would do something for half as much in house - or on the side for cash.
I'll have to look into those options. I'd rather not spend more than I have to, and I know I'll need more work done later (chopping fender and struts, etc).
On the other hand dude, if you can afford it - just buy that ebay item and take the easy way. I would if I had the cash. I was always broke so I made all my stuff for the most part.
