I have a good mechanic....just embarrassed to tell him what I did.
Nothing to be embarassed about...it happens. If you don't want to be specific when he asks what happened, just tell him that you have been studying up on Murphys Law! lol

Embarrassed? Try riding motorcycles since you where 12 years old, I'm 52 now, and getting your first Harley, 6 years ago, and riding it for only a few months and laying it down on a freeway connector when trying to pass some semi's, I went to fast for my conditions, the road and the turn where in excellent condition, I was NOT Anyway after $4700 in repairs and a lot more practice, I was taking my soon to be wife out for a ride in the mountains and was coming down the mountain road and had a bunch of cages on my A$$ so I used the turnout. The turnout was a short one and I almost went over the end needless to say when I finally stopped the bike I sslllloooowwwwllllyyyy laid it down on its side, the turnout was not a flat surface, on top of my wifes boot. No damage to either my wife or the bike. Talk about being embarrassed, trying to be the BadA$$ biker. As everyone else has said dont ride beyond your comfort zone and practice, practice, practice. Also join up with your local bike crew, HOG, Ladies of HOG, etc. etc. you will receive a lot of advice and experience from them.
I think it will be a while before I decide to tackle a mountain road around here. Most are crazy curvy and steep. Wow...sounds like you've had some close scrapes.
