Default forward controls

I was at a dealer the other day to see about getting forward controls for my 2011 sporster and install myself. They told me I couldnt do this myself cause you have to split the case to install. is this true? or are they just trying to get an easy job and make it sound difficult? thanks for any help

I've got a 2011 sportster. I got the controls a little over a month ago, and installed myself. I don't know what the hell they're talking about. I removed the front muffler, pulled the mid controls, installed the forwards, and replaced the exhaust. As long as you've got the tools, it's a simple job.

Directions that came with it called for both colors. It's not specified for all bolts, just a few here and there.

They'll say anything to get your money. I guess they aren't selling enough $80 polo shirts this year.
