the plan was to buy another speedo from ebay or whomever and just cut the end off where it goes into the speedo. ill have to look into it, anyone have a speedo laying around they can pull apart and show me the insides? dont really want to rip mine apart and risk ****ing it up.

I hate the look of the speedo as well and what I was thinking about doing on my XL50 was just putting the speedo and tach in the fork bag so they were still hooked up, but not seen, but then I came to my senses and just relocated them. Like Charley said the newer bikes and cars do not use a wire for each light or funtion-they use a bus so that one or a few wires can do many tasks. maybe just try my fork bag idea as you could run the wires into the bag from behind the headlight and you wuld have the look you want.

just stopped in at harley, and got a service diagram for the speedo, the OEM harness is 86 bux while an OEM speedo is 267. ill ebay one. if i can pull the guts apart from the speedo and use leds for my dummy lights ill be good. i can just take the strip for my turns and whatnot and mount that somewere or even get another top clamp and mill the speedo mount off and just have the strip mounted.

picked up an oem speedo from a local shop for 25 bux, the connectors were cut off though. going to play with this speedo and see what wires illuminate which lights on the speedo. also ordered a set of 8" straight risers black. anyone know where i can get a set of broomstick bars? flanders are too much. i am definately not paying $100 for a piece of tube cut 32" that has a dimple. if it comes to it ill make my own and lathe my own knurls and mill a slot for the wires. i see santee makes bars but anyone know where i can find a broomstick?
