Alright so new Harley owner here and am confused about this one. Bought the bike like a week ago and have been into harley 4 times so far for parts etc and 2 times when I was waiting on help or parts or wahtever ive had small talk with other customers and it always comes up "what bike do you have" and both times I got the "oh thats a girls bike, or a small bike" like it shitty or something? Why are so many harley guys looking down on this bike? I totally dont get it. Im mainly a car guy and buy a new one at least once a year do it up then sell it got bored early this year and bought a harley. Now I went to the dealership to buy a bike had no idea what one I wanted and didnt care what the price of it was. I went with the iron because of the classic iconic look of it and the matte black. Wanted a little bigger motor but thats being corrected with the 1200 kit. Whats with these guys I really dont get it. I kinda think of it like why would you want such a big clunky bike? Whats everyones opinion on this im new so maybe im missing something.
What your missing is those people are stupid and sold on what HD propaganda tells them. If the sporty fits you and you like it then great. Everybody wants to be Mr or Ms touring master. There is a sheep type mentality with a lot of HD riders that they have to have this or that because they are told it is best. You sound new to riding so if you like the bike ride on. Enjoy it. I personally ride a Heritage that has a built motor that will fly compared to most heavy bikes at HD. I was told it was a girls bike last week ahahhaaa the idiot that told me road a Ultra. It boils down to ride what you want and dont listen to the idiots.
A true rider rides his bike and doesnt care what others think. Remember that.
I know some really impressive riders riding the Sporty. You can tour on it by the way unlike most of the HD hang around gang will tell you.
My opinion is ride what you like! Sportsters are labled as a "girl bike" by people that ride bigger harleys. Which I dont care I have heard it on rides from other bikers and such. I just know I like Sportsters they are nimble and JMO look the best. Besides Sportsters were Harleys Hot Rod back in the day and they still have the best PTWR!

Not new to riding just harley's. Havent ridden in about 5 years owned a bunch of jap bikes and rode like and idiot past that point in my life and just want to cruise. I get bored pretty quickly and usually go through my toys pretty quick do them up and sell them but I think im going to stick to this one for a while. Hell I got rid of my last car in a little over a month.
HAHAHA its funny because I go to the Harley dealer about once a month and I never have anyone say that to me ... ive read it on here so many times and it is simply B.S ... If anything the huge baggers with the and comforts such as heated seats and windshields are more grly than my stipped down Iron... anyway when I ride up with my gf on the back who is extremely hot and has all the guys with such small dicks that they have to call a sporty a grls bike starring at her, they dont say anything like that to me; and if they did I honestly wouldnt care !

Probably the case with most dumbasses that say that. I've heard it a few times. Once from a female who was on a softail. She was ugly as sin and could barely push her bike backwards on level ground without help..
If you can ride it 3 to 4 hours straight put the guy on there that calls it a girls bike. Then ask who the b1tch is is if he fails. He can do it and still call it a girls bike tell him you pissed in his tank while he was gone.
