Default 2011 48. Some upgrades maybe?

Orange 2011 48. 303 miles on her now, almost broke in.

So far:
- removed rear reflector (free)
- mounted license plate vertically (free)
- ordered K&N filter from amazon ($42 shipped)
- ordered LaRosa Sportster Solo Saddle Bag ($130 shipped ebay is what they go for)

I'd like to keep her stock looks for the most part. But just do some basic things.

Want to use that power cord thats by the seat to power a couple things. It's 12v as far as I know and I could test it, but what side is + and what is - ?
I'm going to add a USB 5v connection on the bike so i can charge my iphone. Also, would like to use some of these LED strip lights under the rear fender.

Where can I get the plug to plug into the existing port for power? Or I guess I can just make my own plug (deans or power poles).

thanks!

I could be wrong because I never looked, but I don't think Sportsters come w/stock power port (only touring)...so you might need to buy the HD one & add for powering these devices...??

The plug you are seeing is more than likely for a battery tender and is wired directly to the battery. Which mean's it's not fused and you wouldn't want to use it without an inline fuse. Some dealers add these at the dealership before delivery. It doesn't come from the factory that way.

Yeah it's this guy here:

I'll "fuse" it with a car cig lighter adapter. Then i can run whatever I need too from that. (iphone charger, LEDs with an on/off switch of course, etc)
My assumption is the pole that is sticking out is the ground. ? I can test, but at work right now.

You would be correct if it is wired correctly. The pole sticking out is ground.

I wouldn't chop up the battery tender connector, they come in handy...just my opinion though. Why not just add an additional 12v wire with an inline fuse?

Sure, I can just go with this. But I would just want the tender plug part. Know where i can order just the plug and maybe bare wires?

If not.. then i'd just assume to convert the stock tender to something i have many of, and convert any accessories to that standard as well.
Much cheaper for me than $18 since I have tons of deans (RC guy).

I like the looks of the stock exhaust. But I wouldn't mind having a slightly more rumble.
whats a cost effective 'slightly more rumble'. not worth $1K to me. Black is cool.

Maybe I'll just wrap the pipes in black. idk.

I also just picked up a 48 a little over a week ago, and like the look of the stock exhaust. To make it a little louder I plan on installing the Vance & Hines Straightshots HS slip-ons. Search around on youtube to check out some different sounds. You can pretty much find any slip-ons/pipes you can put on the 48 and have a listen.

Nice, they look like around $250 as well. That's not bad for the sound!
