Default 883-1200 conversion

Has anyone here done the 1200 conversion from licks cycles? It's only $500-$600.. Or any other brand? Looking to do that on my iron! Good, bad experiences?

Here's a customer review from there own website:

"Am really diaaponted with the kit. The gaskets were absolutely horrible had to strip the motor down twice & RE- DO ALL THE GASKETS.

The kit is made in TAIWAN which is not upto the standard at all.

ALL IN ALL VERY DISAPPOINTED."

I had my Iron converted using the Harley Kit. Looks exactly like the stock 883 engine, but also came with heads and clutch parts.
It's a bit more, but you can buy it shipped from Zanotti for 970.

I've heard the same about the Lick's kits. If you want a top-notch kit at a reasonable price, try the NRHS 1250 kit for only $740. This kit is outstanding in quality, and the Dan's customer service is as good as it gets. I've even heard of him completely replacing all the supplied hardware and doing the install himself, when the issue was due to customer error. He goes above and beyond the call, every time.

There are basically two options to convert to 1200: change the heads, cylinders and pistons to the same spec as a stock 1200, or rebore your cylinders and fit new pistons with your 883 heads. The second is obviously cheaper, but must be designed to be compatible with 883 heads.

Frankly that is what I will do, as a low cost option. Wiseco make a suitable piston kit, complete with all gaskets etc. Just need to rebore your cylinders to the larger bore. NHRS make fabulous stuff if you want a more serious injection of performance!

Just so you know, in newer Sportsters like his. The jugs are no longer bore-able.

Have never heard a bad word about NRHS

Bum, that also means like my bike! Sorry about the red herring chaps. Is there a good quality conversion kit of cylinders and pistons that can be used with the stock 883 heads?

Answering my own question, I see that the NHRS Street Dominator conversion kit does just that. Scroll down to see their 883-1250 kit, where there are also power curves showing the improvements over a stock 883: "These kits work on all EVO Sportsters 1986 and up to include the newest fuel injected models."

Yea it sucks, but the MoCo was losing money to the mod world. I guess some how they think they'll recoup some of it. Personally I think its just a waste of good juggs.
