I have an 02 883C and finally saved up enough money to switch handlebar. I've always wanted apes, and I've had my eyes on Lick's 12" Super Narrow apes. I'd move the speedo to the side of the tank and keep my top clamp and mount it on 1.5" shorty risers. Or simply put bad boys bars that give me a bit more rise and pullback.
I'm worried about the installation of the apes which would cause a lot of work. Comfort wise, how are the apes compared to bad boys if you have tried both? I'm 6' and currently have drag bars on the stock 5.5" risers of the custom.
I know that in the end it's a matter of personal choice but because im not gonna ask guys to try their bikes lol, it's hard to make my own opinion. Easthecially I'd prefer the apes.
Thank you for chiming in :-) pics are always welcome
You already know what I would do lol. I say try the bad boys if you don't like them sell then. You don't need anything but the bars. Either way you'll like it better than the drag bars.
I just discovered that I could also put 9.5" pullback risers and keep my drag bars! I don't know if I would have to change any cables tho. Looks good on Sportys too!
I love my apes. the only thing I am going to change is right now I have a 5.5 inch riser and 12 inch apes. i dont like the tall riser look so I am going to change it to 16 inch apes and 1.5 inch riser. The picture is in my signature.
